Indeed, Trump in his speech at one point alluded to “raw intelligence.”Perhaps tellingly, before he alleged this huge cover-up, the first big piece of supposed evidence he cited was China allegedly obtaining hundreds of millions of US voter files.But that 2021 assessment alluded to this. It found that China “probably also continued longstanding efforts to gather information on US voters and public opinion; political parties, candidates and their staffs; and senior government officials.”It assessed that China had done this since at least 2008 to inform how it could influence US policy. But it also assessed that China didn’t actually interfere in the 2020 election.Trump also at one point alluded to China, as of 2019, “undermining domestic confidence” in him.
